Usher And Diplo Found 'Chemistry' On 'Climax'

In-demand producer/DJ also talks to MTV News about upcoming projects with No Doubt, Snoop Dogg, more.

"We just had great chemistry. I was super-nervous working with him the first two days. ... The way we did it, it was just a super-open format. He was down to do whatever we were excited about. </P><P> </P><P>"I love Usher," Diplo gushed. "I'm an Usher fan. I love him for records like 'Confessions Pt. II' and 'Burn,' those are some of the first R&B records from my generation that are still lasting forever. And we did some uptempo stuff too. I don't know what'll make the album, but I think there are definitely three songs that'll make it." </P><P> </P><P>Diplo is currently involved with a number of projects and luckily he was willing to dish. "What we're doing is a reggae record. It's like Snoop Dogg and Major Lazer together. It's all reggae and he's singing and he's doing a f---ing awesome job and I never knew it, but he had his heart in every song. ... We're going to get back into the production of it next month, and I'm really proud of that record. It's the first record I've ever executive-produced and his crew is amazing. </P><P></p>

Kids' Choice Awards Owned By Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift

Performances from Katy Perry and One Direction also stood out at Nickelodeon awards show.

Host Will Smith was joined Saturday (March 31) by a bevy of stars for Nickelodeon's annual slime-fest, the Kids' Choice Awards.

The movie star and MC kicked off the night with a KCA-themed rap that included the first sliming of the night, when buckets of the famed goo fell on the audience, setting the tone for the fun-filled evening. The "Men In Black III" star promised that 2012 would include a record-breaking amount of slime, adding, "No one is safe from the slime." That included Halle Berry, who was the first celeb to get slimed.

The night's first presenters certainly brought the kooky factor up a bit. Nicki Minaj was decked out in a candy-colored dress complete with a bustier made out of tickets and bubbles glued to her skirt, as she stood alongside "Hunger Games" star Josh Hutcherson. The pair handed out the first blimp to Favorite Musical Group winners Big Time Rush.

Real-life couple and "The Amazing Spider-Man" stars Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone presented the award for Favorite Movie Actor. But before handing the blimp to Adam Sandler, Garfield told the room, "I feel like the luckiest guy in the world, 'cause I got to play my favorite superhero."

KCA first-timer and "Glee" star Chris Colfer got slimed when he hit the stage to present Selena Gomez the award for Favorite TV Actress. Perhaps Heidi Klum should have shared this advice with him first: Never trust anyone at the KCAs. Decked out in a two-piece, midriff-baring top and sparkly skirt, Gomez also won for Favorite Female Singer. "After no longer doing my show, knowing you guys still watch it means so much," she said of her now-defunct Disney series "The Wizards of Waverly Place."

Katy Perry was the first performer of the night. Done up in medieval gear, she flew across the room to the stage, where she broke out into her latest hit single, "Part of Me." Behind her, dancers were decked out in costumes from the same period. She served as a court performer, singing her scathing breakup track for the king and queen. The performance ended with Katy hitting the king with a pie.

Perry also won a blimp for her work in "The Smurfs," declaring, "The only reason I'm here today is because I've never gown up. I can't wait to do 'Smurfs 2.' "

Kristen Stewart won for Favorite Movie Actress for "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1." Beaming in blue lace, she said, "This is, like, the coolest awards show ever. I love Nickelodeon. I liked 'Doug,' 'Rocco's Modern Life.' Awesome. I just have to say: Katy Perry's armor was the coolest thing I've ever seen."

Next up, the show got a bit serious when first lady Michelle Obama presented Taylor Swift with the Big Help Award. Swift won the special blimp in recognition of her philanthropic efforts, including work with U.S. tornado and flood survivors and various youth-related charities.

"I'm so honored. I have always wanted to meet you; this is amazing. I am so honored to be receiving this award from the first lady of the United States. I am freaking out," Swift said. "I'm really proud of all of you guys. I see you helping each other out. I think it's important you know you are making a difference in this world."

Taylor Lautner has kicked enough butt and taken enough names on the big screen that he won the blimp for Favorite Butt Kicker. "This is amazing," he told the room of screaming fans. "Robert, I'm sure you'll be winning this award next year for 'Iron Man 3' and 'The Avengers.' " That Robert he was referring to was presenter Robert Downey Jr., not Pattinson, obviously.

After winning, he was forced to do 1,000 push-ups by Smith. His reward for completing the misson? Getting slimed.

One Direction continued their U.S. takeover with their performance on the show. For "What Makes You Beautiful," the guys wore all black-and-white while futuristic lights danced behind them. Proving that everyone is a One Directioner at this point, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez danced around in the audience and sang every word of the song, while the fivesome kept girls screaming with their frothy, lighthearted pop track.

The big twist of the night came when Cee Lo Green was revealed as Will Smith's nemesis, the man dubbed "Creepy Voice." "Creepy Voice" had spent the night taunting Will, telling him how inadequate a host he is. His reasons? "I've always wanted to be slimed," "The Voice" judge said. "My name is Cee Lo Green. Slime's green. Slime me!" He didn't get slimed, but he did get ice-cream-sundaed. Maybe next year, Cee Lo.

After kicking Jaden and Willow out and accusing them of being "Creepy Voice," he brought his performer kids back out to hand out Favorite Male Singer, the night's last award. Justin Bieber, fresh from shooting his "Boyfriend" video, took the stage to accept his blimp.

"Right now, I've been working really hard on my album, Believe. This album is our album. This [blimp] goes out to all the fans. I love you so much," he said. In addition to the blimp, with Will by his side, Bieber got über-slimed, with the ooey-gooey stuff spewing out from the stage all over him.

And, with that, the show ended.

What did you think of the Kids' Choice Awards? Let us know in the comments!

Will Black Keys Team Up With Ke$ha? First They Want Jim Nabors

The duo sat down with MTV News in Berlin to discuss a pair of unlikely collaborations.
By James Montgomery

<P>Theirs is a relationship that has spanned time and Twitter, <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/keshasuxx/status/77286418598211584" target="_blank">seafood</a> and <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/keshasuxx/status/157523381602889728" target="_blank">shaving</a>, but over the years, the unlikely bond between the <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/black_keys/artist.jhtml">Black Keys</a> and <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/id_3213641/artist.jhtml">Ke$ha</a> has grown to become something <i>more</i>: a genuine friendship, marked with the occasional trespassing charge. </P><P> </P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Would The Black Keys Ever Collaborate With Ke$ha?" id="vid:731631.id:1678505" width="240" height="211"></div><p> </P><P> </P><P>"We're friends with her, we've known her since way before she was famous, before she was even a singer, I guess," Keys drummer Patrick Carney told MTV News. "When she was 16 years old, she used to sneak into our shows. We kind of became friends with her by kicking her out of our backstage room, over and over again. She actually has snuck into shows in L.A., San Diego, Coachella ..." </P><P> </P><P>"She snuck in and [got] kicked out of one show, like, <i>five</i> times," frontman Dan Auerbach added. "[She] snuck in through the kitchen. I don't know if she's such a big fan; she just likes breaking the rules." </P><P> </P><P>So, when MTV News sat down with the 'Keys in Berlin during the premiere of their <a href="/news/articles/1678662/black-keys-gold-on-the-ceiling-music-video.jhtml">"Gold on the Ceiling"</a> video, we had to ask if their friendship with Ke$ha would take the next step: an actual musical collaboration. It's not all that far-fetched, considering both Ke$h and Auerbach live in Nashville ("I see her every once in a while flying by in her T-Top [convertible]," Auerbach laughed), and recently, the glittery one has logged studio time with <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/keshasuxx/status/160846424609787906" target="_blank">the Flaming Lips</a>. So, could we see a team-up on the next Black Keys album? </P><P> </P><P>"I guess, I don't know," Carney said. "We don't really do that many collaborations, really." </P><P> </P><P>OK, so if a Ke$ha collabo isn't in the cards, just who would the 'Keys like to work with next? Well, as it turns out, they've got their eyes set on landing a very big star for the next record ... even if they mistakenly believe he's deceased. </P><P> </P><P>"We both want to work with Jim Nabors very badly, but apparently he's not with us anymore," Carney said. </P><P>Oh, <a href="http://www.jimnabors.com/" target="_blank">but he is.</a> Which means that, much like Nabors, the dream is alive. The Ke$ha collabo? Eh, probably not so much. </P><P> </P><P><i>Should the Black Keys hit the studio with Ke$ha? Leave your comment below!</i></p>

Justin Bieber Takes A 'Leap' With 'Boyfriend'

'He's an incredible, incredible writer and amazing vocalist,' producer Mike Posner tells MTV News about Bieber's new single.
By Jocelyn Vena

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a> dropped his <a href="/news/articles/1681748/justin-bieber-boyfriend.jhtml">bumping new single "Boyfriend"</a> on Monday (March 26), teasing his next album, <a href="/news/articles/1681595/justin-bieber-boyfriend.jhtml"><i>Believe.</i></a> It's a grinding, midtempo song that hears Bieber proclaiming all the ways he can make a girl happy (swag and fondue included!). </P><P> </P><P>Co-produced and co-written by "Cooler Than Me" singer Mike Posner, the song shows growth from Bieber's "Baby" days. When MTV News caught up with Posner last week, he told us what it was like to hit the studio with Bieber (and co-producer and co-writer Mason Levy) for the track. </P><P> </P><P><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:752329/cp~vid%3D752329%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A752329" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed> </P><P> </P><P>"I've known [Bieber's manager] Scooter [Braun] for a few years, so I actually ran into Scooter at a Clippers game and told him I would love to work with Justin," Posner said. "I got the opportunity to write with Justin. I didn't really know what to expect at first, but he's an incredible, incredible writer and amazing vocalist. </P><P> </P><P>"Because I'm an artist myself, I can be pretty selective on who I produce for and who I make beats for ... and really what I'm looking for is an amazing vocalist, somebody that can sing better than I can," he continued. "And the other thing is somebody that's willing to not try to make something that succeeds within the matrix of what pop music is now, but makes something that moves that matrix to where it is, and Justin was willing to take that leap with me." </P><P> </P><P>Bieber spoke to Ryan Seacrest on his radio show hours after the song's world premiere Monday, explaining why this was the perfect track to kick off the <i>Believe</i> era. </P><P> </P><P>"It was a really hard choice. I mean, we had so many songs, so many uptempos we could release, [that] I thought, 'Let's slow it down,' " he said, adding that there are already plenty of fast songs all over the radio. "It's just something a little bit more mature, but it's also something I think I'm ready for." </P><P> </P><P>While fans and industry insiders had been wondering what a more grown-up Bieber would sound like, he said he tried to block out all the noise when making the track. "There's so many people that are going to give me opinions, but I'm the only one who can ultimately make those decisions, because I'm going to have to live with my career for the rest of my life. So I thought this was the perfect single," he said, adding that this song "was me all the way; it is a representation of me." </P><P> </P><P>And Bieber said "Boyfriend" perfectly sets up what's coming next. "It's kind of classic," he said of the album. "The songs, I feel, won't get old. The music is very fresh, but it's also &#8212; I'm taking a lot from old-school music, a lot of Michael Jackson, a lot of old R&B, a lot of old pop. It's pretty special." </P><P> </P><P><i>What do you think of "Boyfriend"? Share your reviews in the comments below!</i></p>

Simon Cowell Squashes Beyonce, Mariah Carey 'X Factor' Rumors

Judge also takes shot at 'The Voice,' asking, 'How many artists have they discovered?'
By John Mitchell

<P>Simon Cowell is finally opening up about the cast shakeups on "The X Factor" as well as about rumors that two <i>very</i> famous divas are in talks to join Fox's reality singing competition. </P><P> </P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Simon Cowell Compares The British And U.S. Versions Of 'X Factor'" id="vid:698604.id:1672066" width="240" height="211"></div><p> </P><P> </P><P>Late last month, it was announced that judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones had been <a href="/news/articles/1678191/paula-abdul-exits-x-factor.jhtml"><P>id="1678191">fired from "X Factor"</a> and would be replaced in its second season. The announcement came as a shock to fans, but Cowell tells <a href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/simon-cowell-x-factor-firings-voice-287806" target="_blank">"Extra"</a> in an interview airing Wednesday (February 8) that the decision was a long time coming and was ultimately made "at the beginning of the year &#8212; and we were told it had to happen straight away." </P><P> </P><P>While her dismissal came as a surprise, Cowell says Abdul "was very gracious" about it. "She understands it's business," Cowell said of his real-life friend. "It's never personal." </P><P> </P><P>Scherzinger, according to Cowell, was "disappointed" with the producers' decision to replace her. But the former Pussycat Doll insisted in a new <a href="http://www.accesshollywood.com/nicole-scherzinger-talks-x-factor-departure-i-have-no-regrets_article_60184" target="_blank">"Access Hollywood"</a> interview that she "had a wonderful experience on the show." </P><P> </P><P>"What happened? Well, all I know is that I gave 110 percent to that show," she said. "I know everybody's talking about it, they're saying good, bad, they love me or hate me, but the one thing you can't say is that I didn't give it my all." </P><P> </P><P>Cowell also used his time with "Extra" to squash rumors that Beyonc&#233; or Mariah Carey might be joining the "X Factor" team when it returns to Fox later this year. He seemed particularly amused by <a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/02/08/idUS114237084820120208" target="_blank">talk</a> that the show was offering Beyonc&#233; a nine-figure contract to join the judges' table. </P><P> </P><P>"The budget for the show is $100 million. That would never ever happen. </P><P> </P><P>It's absolute nonsense," he told "Extra." "No one is going to pay $100 million for someone. I genuinely haven't had a conversation with her about it. Not at all." </P><P> </P><P>The same can be said for Carey, who Cowell said he likes very much and would be a fine addition to the show but is an impractical choice because of the long hours involved. "I adore her, love her," he said. </P><P>"But you can't expect someone who has just had two kids [and] has a record career to make the kind of commitment we would need on this show." </P><P> </P><P>"X Factor" did not perform as strongly as expected in the ratings last fall, which many feel precipitated the planned revamp, though the ever-cool Cowell is not sweating the competition. In this latest interview, Cowell took on "The Voice," which returned to NBC after the Super Bowl and delivered big ratings, saying the makeup of his judging panel is what sets "X Factor" apart. </P><P> </P><P>"I would ask how many records have they made, how many artists have they discovered?" Cowell asked of "The Voice" mentors Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. "That's where we have to be different on the judging panel. It's very important that you have people on the panel that have actually signed and made artists successful all over the world, not just have made hit records yourself."</p>

Confirmed: Cocaine Discovered in Whitney Houston's Hotel Room

We have an update on the passing of Whitney Houston.

A week after the official coroner's report listed this singer's cause of death as being a heart attack, likely related to cocaine use, it's now been confirmed that the drug was, indeed, discovered in Whitney's hotel room at the time her body was found.

Whitney Houston ABC Interview

Initial reports had been sketchy on this fact, with rumors circulating that cocaine may have been present in Houston's system - but no traces of the substances were anywhere near the bathtub in which she drowned.

Allegations of someone tampering with the evidence even ran wild.

But now sources connected to the investigation tell TMZ that "white, powdery remnants" were taken into custody and later identified as cocaine.

Does this put the tragedy to rest? Sadly, probably not. Accusations of who supplied Whitney with her drugs of choice will continue for the foreseeable future. Ray J has already been forced to come out and defend himself against this charge.

But Bieber was the headline act of the night, giving fans some big performances and an even bigger video premiere. </P><P> </P><P>Bieber amped up the energy with his hip-hop-ified take on the Christmas classic <a href="/news/articles/1673334/justin-bieber-mariah-carey-christmas-song.jhtml">"Little Drummer Boy,"</a> which included him spitting a holiday-themed rhyme. Decked in all black, the teen star had the crowd screaming. He was even joined by Busta Rhymes, who appears on the <i>Under the Mistletoe</i> cut. </P><P> </P><P>JB then slowed things down with <a href="/news/articles/1673032/justin-bieber-usher-christmas-song.jhtml">"The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire),"</a> leaving his female fans swooning as he crooned the holiday standard. He was joined by his mentor Usher for the track. </P><P> </P><P>"God bless and Merry Christmas," Bieber told the crowd before tossing to the "All I Want for Christmas Is You" video. The clip features Mariah Carey dressed in a sexy Santa Claus outfit standing in a department store as she dances around singing the track, almost as if she's on display for holiday shoppers. It also sees Bieber and his pals shopping for some choice holiday gifts like high-top kicks. </P><P> </P><P>In between performance shots of Bieber and Mariah, a street-corner Santa Claus hands out envelopes to shoppers on the street, teasing an inevitable yuletide party scene. The shoppers are then welcomed into the department store, where Justin and Mariah hand out gifts to everyone. The duo tease and flirt with each other as everyone around them unwraps their gifts. </P><P> </P><P>Bieber and Carey re-recorded her classic holiday tune for his chart-topping holiday album, which also features appearances from the Band Perry and Boyz II Men. They filmed the video earlier this month, just in time for the holiday season. </P><P> </P><P><i>Did Bieber get you in the holiday spirit? Let us know in the comments!</i></p>

'Hunger Games' Fans Have Spoken: Jennifer Lawrence Isn't Too Curvy

'Jennifer Lawrence is the perfect Katniss Everdeen!' one MTV News commenter writes.
By Elizabeth Lancaster

After devouring the books and flooding movie theaters, "Hunger Games" fans have become fiercely loyal to the actors who embodied their favorite characters. And those die-hards are not taking kindly to suggestions that Jennifer Lawrence is too curvy to play Katniss Everdeen.

Much of the backlash stems from New York Times film critic Manohla Dargis' review of the film, in which she wrote: "A few years ago Ms. Lawrence might have looked hungry enough to play Katniss, but now, at 21, her seductive, womanly figure makes a bad fit for a dystopian fantasy about a people starved into submission."

On Wednesday, when MTV News checked in with "Hunger Games" experts for their feelings on the subject, many of you took to our comments section and our Twitter to let us know just how much you disagree with Dargis' take on the lead actress.

MTV.com reader DavidB presented this quote from Suzanne Collins' book, in which Katniss describes her own body: "I stand straight, and while I'm thin, I'm strong. The meat and plants from the woods combined with the exertion it took to get them have given me a healthier body than most of those I see around me."

Another commenter, GrantGibbs1, wrote, "Jennifer Lawrence is the perfect Katniss Everdeen! She's not even fat??? First racist comments now weight issues," the commenter added, in reference to the issues some moviegoers have had over Rue being played by a black actress.

For many fans and readers, it's not about accuracy, but respect and admiration for Jennifer Lawrence as an actress, as well as defending young women from the pressures that create body issues. On Twitter, @PromiseKidrauhl told us Lawrence "was perfectly picked to play Katniss," while @valvdg wrote, "As if young women didn't have enough weight issues."

It's not too late to make your voice heard: What do you think about the controversy over Jennifer Lawrence's body?

Check out everything we've got on "The Hunger Games."

"I really didn't do anything differently on this video that I didn't do on the 'Telephone' video or the 'Paparazzi' video or the 'Bad Romance' video. I hope my fans will take from this the progression that you have to trust yourself to make mistakes."</p>

Kids' Choice Awards 2012: 5 Things We're Dying To See

Katy Perry and One Direction's performances, Will Smith's hosting skills and more have us pumped for Saturday night.
By Kara Warner

This year's Kids' Choice Awards are going to be as action-packed as ever, with Will Smith as host, two killer performers lined up and a slew of celebrities expected to be in attendance.

Here are the five things we're looking forward to during the live show at 8 p.m. Saturday:

Katy Perry's Performance
Perry is not only one of this year's top nominees, but the "Teenage Dream" singer will also take the stage at USC's Galen Center to present and perform. So what song will she sing? What will she wear? Will her hair still be blue? One of Perry's biggest hits, "Firework," is up for Favorite Song. She is also nominated for Favorite Female Singer and Favorite Voice in an Animated Movie for her role in "The Smurfs."

A Host With Big Willie Style
Nickelodeon hit the jackpot of high-profile celeb hosts in landing Will Smith for their master of ceremonies this year. Although he's one of the biggest stars around, it's been awhile since we've seen the former Fresh Prince. We've seen a lot of his son Jaden and daughter Willow, who are becoming big stars in their own right, but we are psyched to see what Smith has planned as host. Will he be joined onstage by his kids? Will he incorporate a few of his famous friends into the act, like Tom Cruise? Will we get a sneak peek at new footage from the upcoming "Men in Black III"? We'll have to wait and see.

One Direction Break Hearts Stateside
The cute and charming lads of "it" boy band One Direction will no doubt bring the house down with whatever they perform on the show. A word of advice to the lucky folks attending the show: Think about bringing earplugs to protect yourself from the enthusiastic, high-pitched screams that will take over the Galen Center the instant the British pop group takes the stage. And they're not taking the opportunity lightly. "Kids' Choice is the biggest night on Nickelodeon," Niall Horan told MTV News about the magnitude of their appearance on the show. "All the big stars are going to be there, and when we found out it was just us and Katy Perry performing, we were like, 'Geez, this is a big deal.' "

An Appearance By a First Lady
Talk about upping the style and class factor! The fact that the very well-respected FLOTUS will be on hand to present Taylor Swift with an award is a really big deal. Michelle Obama will honor Swift with the Big Help Award, in recognition of her philanthropic efforts, including work with U.S. tornado and flood survivors. Obama herself was the recipient of the award in 2010, in recognition of her Let's Move! Campaign, which champions healthier lifestyles for kids. And, as if that weren't enough to establish her Nick cred, earlier this year, Obama also appeared on a special episode of "iCarly" to promote her Joining Forces initiative to support military families.

Who Will Get Slimed?
On to the most intriguing and entertaining part of the annual awards show: Who will get slimed? Despite the sticky, icky and total-mess factor that is involved with being covered from head to toe in the network's trademark green slime, it is considered an honor to get hit with the goo, which is said to be a mixture of green Jell-O, shampoo, oatmeal and flour. The illustrious list of previously slimed celebs includes: Katy Perry, Will Smith, Tom Cruise, Justin Timberlake, the Jonas Brothers, Jackson Rathbone and Russell Brand. So who's going down this year? Traditionally, the host is a prime target toward the end of the show, so we can probably count on seeing Smith covered in green, but who else? Maybe Perry or one of the presenters — Chris Rock, Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield, Zac Efron, Victoria Justice, Big Time Rush or Cee Lo Green.

Don't miss the Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Nickelodeon.

98 Degrees Reuniting: Which Other Boy Bands Should Follow Suit?

O-Town, 'NSYNC make our list of boy bands that should get back together.
By Jocelyn Vena

It's about to get 98 Degrees and rising in the boy-band bonanza. Nick Lachey's old group is rumored to be getting back together to launch a summer tour.

Sources tell Rumorfix that the band, which has been on a decade-long hiatus, is about to announce a 15-city trek set to take place in July and August. A formal announcement should be made in the next week. One source told the site that the tour would serve as a thank-you to the band's fans.

Rumors of a reunion kicked off on Wednesday, when the band's website got a face-lift that includes a spanking new logo and a Twitter feed with the guys' official pages scrolling through the homepage. A rep for the band had not responded to MTV News' request for comment by press time.

Given all the love boy bands are getting these days (see One Direction and the Wanted), there are still some that might want to capitalize on the mania sweeping the world. Here are MTV News' picks for the groups we'd love to see get back together.

O-Town O-Town was the product of the reality show "Making the Band." Once managed by imprisoned boy-band impresario Lou Pearlman, the guys managed to put their reality-show pedigree behind them and launched a short-lived, successful run that included hits like the chart-topping "Liquid Dreams."

'NSYNC This would be the gold-star reunion. 'NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys were the two boy bands of the late-'90s revival that reached mega heights of fame and success. Several albums into their career, there appeared to be no stopping Justin Timberlake and the boys. But in 2002, they went on a "temporary hiatus" and have never looked back.

Westlife Westlife plan to break up later this year after they wrap up their 2012 tour. But now seems like the right time to keep it going a little bit longer. Given America's love for boy bands that hail from the U.K., Westlife, who found fame under the guidance of Simon Cowell and serenaded ladies with tracks like "Swear It Again," might just want to stick around and ride out this latest wave of boy-band love.

Which boy band would you love to see get back together? Tell us in the comments!

'Hunger Games' Postmortem: Five Lessons For 'Catching Fire'

In this week's Hobnobbing, we take a look at how Gary Ross' sequel can build upon the success of the first.
By Amy Wilkinson

To no one's surprise, the highly anticipated "Hunger Games" opened last week to boffo box-office numbers, all but guaranteeing the second installment in Suzanne Collins' series, "Catching Fire," will set theaters ablaze come November 22, 2013.

Director Gary Ross, who will also helm the follow-up, has already begun formulating his vision for the 75th annual Hunger Games, telling MTV News, "I have some ideas about how to do 'Catching Fire' slightly differently, but I don't want to share them yet. Not because I'm being evasive, but just because they're not fully baked. But yes, I think it will look and feel slightly different from the first."

With its jungle-like setting, the next arena will be a much different beast than the forested first, so it's no wonder Ross is re-jiggering his approach. We can only speculate that some of his sequel planning will include reviewing "The Hunger Games" in great detail — what worked and what didn't. To that end, we've compiled a list of five "Hunger Games" lessons that can and should inform "Catching Fire."

DO keep the arena underwraps
This one isn't so much for Ross as it is for the Gamemakers at Lionsgate, but we have to recognize the studio's smart decision to use only pre-Games footage in their aggressive marketing campaign for the film. In fact, I'd go so far as to say my favorite parts of the movie were from the arena, largely because they were fresh and unexpected. With the Quarter Quell's intriguing new venue, Lionsgate would be wise to build anticipation by keeping the tropical death trap shrouded in mystery.

DON'T skimp on the CGI
If there was a consistent complaint I heard from "Hunger Games" fans following the film's release, it was that the Girl on Fire scene — in which Katniss and Peeta introduce themselves to the Capitol, riding atop a chariot and flaunting flame-licked jumpsuits representative of their coal-mining home — was ... underwhelming. The flame effect just didn't look real enough. With a slew of new sci-fi aspects introduced in "Catching Fire," including mutated monkeys, we hope Ross can invest a bit more in the film's digital technology.

DO capitalize on Stanley Tucci
Say what you will about Jennifer Lawrence's gripping, gritty performance as Katniss Everdeen, but if anyone could be categorized as the film's scene-stealer, it was most certainly Stanley Tucci, whose blue-haired, big-teethed Caesar Flickerman was nothing short of mesmerizing (and a handy exposition device to boot!). Heck, I'd pay to watch a Caesar Flickerman spin-off once all three (four?) "Hunger Games" films debut. "Caesar Flickerman: Not So Blue." Think about it, Lionsgate.

DON'T downplay the dangers of the arena
Between her 23 fellow tributes, tracker jackers and muttations, Katniss had plenty to contend with in the arena. But, as my roommate so astutely pointed out to me long after I watched the film and didn't notice, we never really see Katniss hungry or thirsty. Limiting the violence for a PG-13 rating is an understandable edit, but why dull down the deadliness of the Games otherwise? In "Catching Fire," we need to see Katniss and her fellow tributes truly struggle, not simply limp along.

DO make artful additions (especially if they're directed by Steven Soderbergh)
By shifting the viewpoint of the film from Katniss' first-person perspective, Ross was able to open up the world of Panem in a way we hadn't experienced before. The addition of the control room, Seneca Crane's implied death by berries and, most notably, the District 11 riot only added to the film.

What do you think "Catching Fire" can learn from "The Hunger Games"? Sound off in the comments below and tweet me @amymwilk with your thoughts and suggestions for future columns!

Check out everything we've got on "Hunger Games."
